James Burford

Marketing Manager

James graduated from Birmingham City University and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in 2020 with a First Class Degree in Music Technology before establishing his own marketing consultancy shortly afterwards.

Since then, he has worked across a broad range of sectors including legal, financial services, hospitality, education and retail, helping businesses strengthen how they communicate with clients and position themselves online. His work combines strategic consultancy with practical delivery across social media, digital content creation, websites, email marketing and wider brand communications.

At Deep Dive, James supports the business as Marketing Manager, helping shape how the company presents its values, services and client experience across its various platforms. His approach focuses on balancing creativity with clarity, ensuring that marketing remains informative, approachable and aligned with the ethos of the business.

James particularly enjoys the consultancy aspect of marketing and values the collaborative relationship that develops when working closely alongside a business over time. Rather than operating as a detached external supplier, he aims to integrate into the wider team while still bringing an independent perspective and fresh ideas.

He believes effective marketing should never become purely focused on numbers and performance metrics alone. While analytics and data are important, building trust, relationships and genuine audience engagement remains central to creating long-term value for a business.

Known for his responsiveness and hands-on approach, James takes pride in being approachable, adaptable and genuinely invested in helping the businesses he works with succeed.

Beneath the surface…

Outside of work, James has a long-standing passion for both sport and music.

He is a keen golfer and football fan and also enjoys playing padel whenever possible. Much of his downtime is spent outdoors with his cockapoo, Pablo, often walking along the canal before stopping off at a local pub along the way.

Music also continues to play a major role in his life. Having played in bands for many years, he still regularly picks up the guitar and maintains a strong interest in music production and creative media.

His creative background continues to influence his approach to marketing today, particularly in the way he combines storytelling, visual content and communication to help businesses connect more naturally with their audiences.
